Design that helps good work do more good.
I build websites and brand work for the nonprofits making this city better. It's completely free. Think of it as my way of pitching in.
I don't wait for a brief to start designing.
Here's how I'd rethink the websites of a few Vancouver nonprofits I admire. Nobody asked me to. I just wanted to show how I work. These are concept studies only, and I'm not affiliated with these organizations.

Nonprofits deserve the same design startups take for granted.
Impact over decoration
Every choice has to earn its place by helping in a real way, whether that's more volunteers or more people reached. Pretty is nice, but it isn't the point.
Free, and happy to keep it that way
This costs you nothing. It's my way of giving back to the community, so good design isn't just something the well-funded get to have.
Small on purpose
Just a few projects at a time means I can really get to know your mission and build something you're proud to send people to.
Hi, I'm Connor. I build websites for Vancouver nonprofits.
I started design4van because the organizations doing the most good in our city are too often stuck with the worst tools. Sites that bury the donate button, break on phones, and undersell brilliant work.
So I work only with nonprofits, for free, and take on just a handful of projects at a time. That way every one gets my full attention and the site it deserves.
Good questions
Yep, genuinely free. There's no catch and no invoice at the end. This is something I do to help out my community, so the nonprofits I work with pay nothing.
Nonprofits and charities based in or serving Metro Vancouver. I take on just a few projects at a time so I can give each one real attention.
Mostly websites, since that's where I can make the biggest difference. I also help with brand identity, campaign pages, and other design work when a project needs it.
A focused website usually takes just a few days, depending on the scope and how quickly we can pull the content together.
Just email me at connor@design4van.org with a sentence or two about your organization and what you're hoping to do. If it's a good fit, I'll reply within the week.
